Heidi’s journey into photography began in 2015 while balancing a demanding career in emergency medicine. She spent over two decades as a paramedic in Riverside County and an Aeromedical Technician in the Air Force Reserves before becoming a Physician Assistant. She concluded her medical career in the emergency department of a Level 1 trauma center, retiring in 2020 to fully immerse herself in photography.
Her passion ignited when she acquired her first macro lens, revealing a mesmerizing world hidden in plain sight. While Heidi will photograph anything that sparks her interest, her true loves are macro and wildlife photography. Whether she’s perched over a dandelion bloom, exploring the intricate world of spiders and their webs, or venturing through brambles in pursuit of elusive wildlife, she seeks to capture the unseen and transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.
With a keen eye for detail and a heart-driven passion, Heidi crafts images that evoke a wow reaction from viewers. More than just a photographer, she is an artist and visual storyteller, weaving narratives through her lens. Recently, she has expanded her creative pursuits into digital art, exploring composites and digital painting.
A native Californian, Heidi and her husband, Rick, fulfilled a longtime dream of moving to the Pacific Northwest. They now call Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula home, sharing their space with two beloved cats. Together, Heidi and Rick enjoy photographing their surroundings and planning their next adventure.
